The Role

We're seeking a visionary VP of Software Engineering to lead our technical organization and drive our product development strategy. As our first VP of Engineering, you'll have the unique opportunity to shape our engineering culture, build scalable systems, and directly impact the future of food technology. You'll work closely with our CEO and founding team to translate ambitious product visions into robust, scalable software solutions.

Responsibilities

• Define and lead the technical vision, with a strong emphasis on scalable architecture, cloud infrastructure, and applied AI
• Build and grow a high-performing remote engineering team, including hiring, mentoring, and team culture
• Architect and oversee the platform, with hands-on leadership across React, Node.js, AWS, and AI systems
• Drive product delivery, balancing speed and quality while aligning engineering execution with business priorities
• Integrate AI/ML capabilities into the core platform, collaborating with data and product teams on models, pipelines, and use cases
• Implement and improve DevOps practices, including CI/CD, observability, infrastructure as code, and security
• Partner closely with the CEO, helping shape product strategy and long-term technical direction
• Establish engineering best practices, processes, and performance metrics that enable a culture of excellence

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering experience, including 4+ years in technical leadership roles at early-stage companies
• Strong command of full-stack JavaScript (React, Node.js) and experience building on AWS infrastructure
• Proven track record of delivering scalable cloud platforms and leading remote teams
• Experience building and integrating AI/ML systems (e.g., recommendation engines, predictive analytics, LLM applications)
• Comfort operating in ambiguous, fast-moving environments with evolving requirements
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative leadership style

Nice to Have

• Experience in the F&B industry or with consumer-facing tech
• Background in launching or scaling AI-powered products from 0→1
• Familiarity with data engineering, ML ops, or real-time analytics infrastructure
• Hands-on experience with LLMs, NLP, or other AI technologies in production

Compensation And Benefits

• Base salary range: $200,000 - $250,000 per year (commensurate with experience and qualifications)
