ABOUT THE ROLE
This entry-level position involves working as part of our multi-disciplinary team under the supervision of our lighting team leader. Projects include new construction and renovation across various markets, including educational, healthcare, sports, corporate, and science and technology sectors.
HERE'S WHAT YOU'LL DO Participate in preparing basic construction documents and specifications for lighting and control systems under supervision.
Design lighting and control systems for healthcare, education, and commercial clients under supervision.
Develop skills to analyze lighting and engineering documents and layout systems.
Gain knowledge of electrical and energy codes, IES recommendations, and apply them to lighting and control system design.
Perform illuminance and lighting power density calculations, and complete related documentation such as rebate/incentive paperwork, LEED/WELL certifications, and other project records with limited supervision.
Suggest improvements based on standards and processes to enhance quality, coordination, and efficiency.
Assist in reviewing and marking up shop drawings and submittals.
Help gather information for RFI responses and review change orders during document preparation.
Visit job sites to verify conditions and observe construction progress, which may require physical walkthroughs.
Willingness to work overtime as needed.
Perform other related tasks as required.
HERE'S WHAT YOU'LL NEED Bachelor's degree in Lighting Design, Architecture, Interior Design, Architectural Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field by the hire date.
Coursework in building systems engineering or architecture is preferred.
Related internship experience is preferred.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects/tasks effectively.
Experience with engineering design software (e.g., Revit MEP, AGI, ElumTools, ComCheck) is preferred.
Proficiency in graphic design and image editing software (Adobe Creative Suite).
Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); familiarity with Bluebeam, Teams, Trello, Procore, and Miro is a plus.
