Summary/Objective

The Lighting Designer is responsible for ensuring product quality and safety in the product design, development, and production phases.

Essential Functions

• Manage all vendor production drawings and creating the drawings for new designs.
• Work with purchasing department on quotations and initial ordering process.
• Communicate with vendors to select appropriate components and ensure product quality.
• Build prototypes during the design phase or in preparation for trade shows.
• Review and modify Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) created by the Subassembly Manager.
• Support customer service with guidance on technical and product related concerns.
• Partner with other departments as necessary to ensure quality and UL/ETL compliance in production.
• Meet with UL and ETL inspectors as necessary.
• Inspect products and components as necessary to ensure they adhere to our drawings and standards.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

This job operates in an office and warehouse environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers; in addition this role uses standard warehouse equipment such as saws, welders, sandblasters, etc.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to fingers, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items up to and including 50 pounds. This employee is occasionally required to sit for long periods of time.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time in-office position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Travel

Occasional overnight travel is expected for this position, 2-3 weeks annually.

Required Education and Experience

• Degree in engineering.
• Minimum of two years' experience.
