Bioinformatics NGS Data Analyst (Part-Time) Job Summary Location: Cambridge, MA (Kendall Square) Schedule: 20 hours/week, Hybrid Duration: 6/30/2025 – 12/31/2025 Interview Process: Teams interview with hiring manager, virtual/in-person panel Overtime: Not expected Role Overview This role supports assay development for next-generation sequencing (NGS)-based viral detection. The analyst will transform bash and Python scripts into modular Nextflow pipelines and contribute to bioinformatics workflow improvements using high-throughput sequencing data. Key Responsibilities Develop modular workflows using Nextflow Translate and optimize existing Bash/Python scripts for viral detection pipelines Analyze NGS data using tools like BLAST, STAR, Bowtie, and samtools Provide recommendations for workflow design improvements Maintain detailed documentation and report updates regularly Collaborate with project managers and lab scientists to integrate workflows Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, or related field (Master’s or Ph.D. preferred) 1–3+ years experience in bioinformatics and NGS workflow development Proficiency in Nextflow, Bash, Python, and HPC/cloud environments Strong version control (Git/GitHub) and documentation skills Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $31.00 - $43.00/hr.
